Pipeline renewal on the premises of Zeche Zollverein

Pre-construction site preparations to start on 19 October 2020

OGE is planning to renew the so-called Zollverein ring line (line No. 1/200) on the premises of Zeche Zollverein in Essen-Stoppenberg over a length of about 1.4 km. The pipeline has a diameter of 60 centimetres (DN 600).

Pre-construction site preparations including logging, archaeological investigations and the search for explosive ordnance will start on 19 October.

The pipline will be installed over a distance of approx. 950 m across Zeche Zollverein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and approx. 450 m in the adjoining "Westerbruch" forest.

In six places directional drilling/pipe jacking will be used to cross under four roads and two railway tracks. Once installed in the pipe trench the pipeline will have a soil cover of at least 1 metre. The pipe storage site will be located in Haldenstraße.

A traffic management plan will be developed and coordinated with the city of Essen.
