2. Scope of this Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how personal data is processed in connection with your use of the Safety Guardians mobile application (the "App").

3. Personal Data Processed

a) User Data

  • a freely chosen username (nickname or gamer tag)
  • a randomly generated user ID

The user ID is used to uniquely associate game progress and leaderboard data with the relevant user.
 

b) Game Data

  • game progress
  • scores and high scores
  • time spent playing the game

4. Leaderboard

The App includes a public leaderboard. Your chosen nickname and corresponding score are stored and displayed to other users.

  • Leaderboard data is retained indefinitely.
  • Leaderboard data can be deleted by the operator upon request.
  • The App does not currently provide an automated function enabling users to delete leaderboard data.

5. Local Processing of Data

The following data is processed and stored exclusively on your device:

  • game progress
  • user ID
  • debug information

As a general rule, data stored locally on your device is not transmitted to any server. However, data required for the operation of the leaderboard function (such as your user ID, scores and game progress) is transmitted to the server.

6. Server‑Hosting

For the purpose of providing the leaderboard function, personal data is transmitted to servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany.

Hetzner Online GmbH acts as a processor within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • IP addresses are not stored.
  • No server logs containing personal data are maintained.
  • No personal data is processed outside the European Union.

7. Purposes of Data Processing

Personal data is processed solely for the following purposes:

  • providing the App's functionality
  • storing game progress
  • displaying leaderboard rankings

8. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Article 6 [1] [b] GDPR (performance of a contract / use of the App)
  • Article 6 [1] [f] GDPR (legitimate interest in the technical operation of the App and the display of game results)

9. Retention Period

Personal data is retained as follows:

  • Locally stored data is retained until the App is uninstalled.
  • Leaderboard data is retained until deletion is requested.

10. Disclosure of Personal Data

Personal data is disclosed only to Hetzner Online GmbH, acting as the hosting provider and processor on behalf of the controller.

No personal data is disclosed to any other third party.

11. App Permissions

The App requires the following permissions:

  • access to the camera (for QR code scanning)
  • internet access (for the leaderboard)
  • access to device functions required to keep the screen active

12. No Third-Party Services or Tracking

The App does not use:

  • tracking technologies
  • analytics tools
  • advertising services

13. Your Rights

As a user, you have the right to:

  • obtain access to your personal data
  • request rectification of inaccurate personal data
  • request erasure of your personal data
  • request restriction of processing
  • receive your personal data in a portable format

14. Right to Lodge a Complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.

15. Provision of Personal Data and Exercise of Your Rights

The provision of the personal data described in this Privacy Notice is necessary in order to use the App. Participation in the leaderboard is not possible unless you provide a nickname.

You may exercise your data protection rights, including requests for access, erasure or objection, at any time by contacting the address specified in Section (1). No particular form is required for such requests.
