How can I apply to Open Grid Europe?
 

Please apply online in our job market via our careers pages. If you have any problems submitting your application online, then please feel free to contact us.

Which documents do I need for my application?

A complete application requires a personal cover letter, a CV and copies of your latest university or school reports and employee references. 

Are the online job vacancies up to date?

Yes, all the vacancies advertised on our careers pages are current and are only taken down once the positions have been filled.

To whom should I address my application?

You can find the contact person to whom you should address your application in the vacancy posting under "Contact".

What is the maximum size for the file attachment?

In our online form, you have the option of uploading your cover letter, CV, school reports in one block and any other attachments in another block up to a file size of 5,120 KB each.

Which file formats are permitted for the upload?

You can upload your files in all commonly used file formats (.bmp, .doc, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .odg, .odp, .ods, .odt, .pdf, .png, .rtf, .tif, .text, .docx).

How can I be sure that Open Grid Europe has received my application?

You will receive confirmation via e-mail once your application has been received.

How many months in advance should I apply?

The deadlines for the individual vacancies vary. As long as the position is advertised, then you are welcome to apply for it.

I would like to apply for more than one position and/or location advertised. How do I go about applying and do I then need to submit multiple applications?
 

If you are interested in multiple positions or locations, then simply apply for the relevant advertised vacancies.

Can I apply even if I have been rejected by Open Grid Europe in the past?

You are welcome to apply to us any time, even if you have already been rejected by us in a different application process.

Can I interrupt my application?

Yes, to interrupt your application you can click on either "Interrupt application" or "Save application thus far". If you save a partly completed application then the data you have entered thus far will not be lost and you can start again from the same point at a later time.

Can I withdraw my application?

If you wish to abandon your application then please inform us via an e-mail sent to recruiting@open-grid-service.com.

Can I apply ad hoc if I don't find a suitable vacancy?

Please apply for the vacancies posted in our job market, which you can find on our careers pages. Beyond these, we do not have any further requirements at this point in time.

How can I find out about new vacancy postings?

With us, you have the option of applying via the job market on the careers pages of the Open Grid Europe GmbH website or activating our search agent. Here, you can define your search criteria and, if you wish, the search agent will inform you daily or weekly via e-mail about new vacancy posts that correspond to your search criteria.

What is the situation with regard to data protection in the online system?

We place great emphasis on protecting your personal data. Personal data from the application that you submit on these pages are recorded, processed and utilised by Open Grid Europe solely for the purposes of saving, evaluating, quality control, allocating and forwarding your application. Your personal data can be accessed by the relevant HR personnel or are used by external agents for such purposes and, in certain cases, may also be made available to selected managers.

What happens after I've submitted my application?
 

After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation of receipt from us. Your documents will then be checked thoroughly by our relevant specialist department and HR personnel. If your profile matches what we're looking for, then we'll invite you to an interview. 

How can I prepare for an interview at Open Grid Europe?

To prepare for an interview, you should familiarise yourself both with the company in general and the specific position you are applying for. We will use the interview to find out what sort of person you are and learn more about any specialist knowledge you have acquired previously, your experience, your skills and your interests. We also want to give you an insight into our work environment, our company culture and the various opportunities we can offer. Please feel free to ask us questions too!

We will inform you about each further step in the selection process via e-mail.

Apprenticeships

 
How can I apply to Open Grid Europe?
 

Please apply online in our job market via our careers pages. If you have any problems submitting your application online, then please feel free to contact us.  

How many months in advance should I apply?

The online application process opens around 12 months before the apprenticeship begins. You can apply for the vacancies we post in our job market, which you can find on our careers pages.

Can I apply for multiple positions at the same time?
 

You can of course apply for multiple positions at the same time if you are interested in different job profiles or apprenticeship programmes.

Whom can I contact if I have questions about an apprenticeship being advertised?

Any questions you have can be addressed to our contacts in the apprenticeship department at any time. You will find the relevant contact person listed as the contact in the vacancy posting.

Which documents do I need to submit to apply for an apprenticeship place?
 

A complete application requires a personal cover letter, a summary of your career thus far in chronological order and copies of your last two references, along with any proof of work experience or internships.

Which file formats can I use to upload my documents?

You can upload your files in all commonly used file formats (.bmp, .doc, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .odg, .odp, .ods, .odt, .pdf, .png, .rtf, .tif, .text, .docx).

What happens after I've submitted my application?

As soon as your application has reached us, we will review it thoroughly. In the cover letter and the CV in particular, we place great emphasis on correct spelling and grammar. We also take a look at your references and any other records.

If your profile matches what we're looking for, then you'll be invited to take an online test. This takes around 60 minutes and the content is tailored to the apprenticeship you are applying for. After you have completed the test, we take a look at your test results. If you have done well in the test then you will be invited to an interview. If you're able to convince us in the interview, then nothing more stands in the way of your joining Open Grid Europe!

How can I be sure that Open Grid Europe has received my application?
 

Once your application has been received, you will receive confirmation via e-mail or a message to say your application has been logged in the online system. Please be sure to check your spam folder, as sometimes the confirmation of receipt can end up there. If you do not receive any confirmation then feel free to contact us by telephone.

How long does the application process take?

Depending on the number of candidates, the application process takes around two months from receipt of the application.

How do I find out about the status of my application?
 

During the course of our application process, we will keep you up to date on the status of your application. With each further step, you will receive an e-mail so you know exactly what's happening.

I have been rejected. Can I apply again?
 

You should not apply a second time for the same apprenticeship within the same starting year. Instead, you should apply for other apprenticeships or try again the following year.

Does Open Grid Europe offer apprenticeships with parallel degree courses?
 

We offer a number of apprenticeships with parallel degree courses. All the information on the application and the degree courses that Open Grid Europe offers can be found on our careers pages.

Are the online job vacancies up to date?
 

Yes, all the vacancies advertised on our careers pages are current and are only taken down once the positions have been filled. 

Will my travel costs be reimbursed if I have to travel to take a test or complete a selection procedure?
 

Information on Open Grid Europe's travel expenses guidelines are supplied along with the invitation to an interview or a recruitment test. Please submit your completed travel expenses form and all receipts following your recruitment test/selection procedure to the address we supply in the invitation.

Are apprentices / those following a parallel apprenticeship and degree programme subsequently employed by Open Grid Europe?
 

As with the apprenticeships, recruitment of apprentices depends on the long-term staffing requirements at Open Grid Europe.  

Do I have to enrol at a vocational college myself?
 

No, we take care of your enrolment at the vocational college. 

Internships, working student placements and dissertations

 
Does Open Grid Europe offer internships?
 

We will be pleased to have your support and to offer you insights into our structures and tasks. Please apply via our job market, which you will find on our careers page. Here you can apply for one of our technical or administrative internships, which appear as ongoing vacancy posts.

How much time should I allow for an internship?
 

The duration of the internship is based on the time period stipulated in the exam regulations.

Which prerequisites apply for an internship?
 

The prerequisite for an internship at Open Grid Europe is that you must be a fully enrolled student. 

Is it possible to do an internship after finishing a degree course?
 

As a member of "Fair Company", we have committed to following certain rules for employing interns. We therefore offer our internships to full-time students only to help them decide on a direction for their careers while they are still learning.

Are internships at Open Grid Europe paid?
 

You will receive remuneration for your time spent on the internship (€ 800 per calendar month gross). 

How far in advance should I apply?
 

Please apply at least eight weeks before you wish to start the internship. 

Is there a student retention programme?
 

Particularly talented and high-performing interns and working students are retained under our student retention programme "Neon".

Are there opportunities for working students at Open Grid Europe?
 

Yes, you can find all our vacancies for working students in our job market. As a working student  you are a fully enrolled student but work actively within one of our departments during the semester for up to 20 hours per week.

What are the prerequisites for completing a final dissertation at Open Grid Europe?
 

If you wish to write a final dissertation at Open Grid Europe, then you will need to be enrolled in a university or university of applied sciences, have performed well in your course and have a supervising professor at your institution.

How much time will I need to complete a dissertation?
 

The duration of your dissertation project is between three and six months.

Trainee programme

 
What are the prerequisites for participation in a trainee programme?
 

One prerequisite for your trainee programme with us is a completed degree course (diploma/master's degree) in business economics, business engineering, IT or another field of engineering. You will also need good communication and social skills, which are important for working within a team. Are you able to work independently and conscientiously and are you interested in the energy industry? Then we look forward to your application!

How does the application process work for a traineeship at Open Grid Europe?
 

Once we have reviewed your application and decided to find out more about you, we will invite you to take part in a telephone interview. If you're able to convince us in the interview, then we will first welcome you to an assessment centre, after which we can look forward to your joining our company.

How long does the trainee programme last?
 

Our administrative and technical trainee programmes last 24 months, in which you will assist us in four (admin. trainee programme) or 2-3 (tech. trainee programme) stations you can choose yourself. You will thus gain a good insight into the way OGE works and can build up a network within the company.

Are there fixed start dates and/or when can I apply for the trainee programme?
 

We advertise new trainee vacancies as required several times a year, since we place great emphasis on giving you as a trainee the opportunity to work with us permanently afterwards. So far, we have been able to recruit almost 100% of our trainees as permanent employees. Simply take a look at our job market.
