During our trainee programme, you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with our day-to-day business in only a few months and take on responsibility at an early stage. You will work in different departments under our qualification programme specifically designed for your needs and the personal development you wish to pursue.
You will primarily work at various locations in Essen. Technical trainees will be based at one of our field sites in the Essen area.

You will attend seminars that will prepare you for your role at OGE. You can choose from a variety of themes spanning communication, rhetoric, presentation techniques and project management, and you'll also have the chance to improve your knowledge of English.
You will broaden your horizon in a social team project.
Together with your fellow trainees you will work for two days on an exciting, voluntary project in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. By the way, the last project took place in the peace village in Oberhausen.

You are a graduate with
- An above-average degree result (bachelor/master) in business studies, business engineering, information technology or engineering science
- Subject-specific work experience or dissertation work
- Interest in energy-related issues
- Very good knowledge of English and German
- Notable communication skills, as well as a high level of social competence
- An independent and careful approach to work, as well as notable enthusiasm
- Conscientiousness, resilience and perseverance

Your trainee programme (commercial or technical focus)
What makes our trainee programme unique:
You! Our commercial and technical programmes put the focus on you, and you are able to choose your areas of work flexibly according to your preferences. You don't need to decide straight away which areas you wish to work in; instead we would like you to be able to carve out your own path in line with your own interests. As you do so, we will be there to guide you and support you in your decisions. Alongside the current trainees, you will also enjoy contact with "alumni" who can support you with their experience.
What else you need to know:
Our trainee programme lasts 24 months. During this time which we will prepare you for your demanding and interesting tasks in our company. You will work in four different areas and thus gain an insight into the company and the commercial and economic contexts.
At the end of the 24 months we want to develop your skills further through a permanent position within the organization. For this reason, we give you a 36-month fixed-term contract from the outset, so that you don't need to worry about hunting for the right position during the trainee programme. So far, we have taken on almost all of our trainees as permanent employees.
What your first few weeks might be like:
In order to prepare you for your chosen position, from the outset you will work not only on day-to-day business, but will also take on responsibility for small sub-projects. This way you will learn about the individual departments and the interfaces that are part of them, and then you can network within the company right from the beginning. In doing so, you will become familiar with a variety of departments so the choice of next station will certainly not be a difficult one.

In addition to the "on-the-job" training, we offer you subject-specific and personal training options, as well as company-specific lectures, which give you the opportunity to gain further qualifications. Regular feedback from the HR department enables you to reflect upon your personal development and to work with us to develop joint perspectives for your future. Furthermore, you will have an experienced trainee by your side as a "sponsor", who will support you in your induction and in finding your feet within the company. Alongside the sponsor, you will also be encouraged in your development by a mentor. You will choose your mentor for yourself in your first or second deployment. You can enjoy regular meetings with him or her to discuss your development and prospects within the company.
