Elbe Estuary Cluster project

The Elbe Estuary Cluster (Cluster Elbmündung) project involves construction of dedicated infrastructure for transmission, liquefaction, temporary storage and onward transmission of unavoidable CO2 emissions from cement production in Schleswig-Holstein. The CO2 is captured in Lägerdorf and exported for permanent geological storage via the designated terminal in Brunsbüttel, or made available to the chemical industry, including Covestro’s Brunsbüttel industrial park, as a raw material for the manufacture of chemical products such as plastics.

Together with powerful partners, a CO2 cluster is being created here, which is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2029. Within the project consortium, OGE is responsible for the construction of the approx. 30 km-long underground CO2 pipeline.

Interested companies can register via the CO2 market enquiry and get in touch with us to explore opportunities for collaboration.
